Castro/Eureka Valley Tree Locations
The Castro has so many beautiful and standout trees that it merited its own neighborhood tree walk in my book, The Trees of San Francisco. The Cockspur coral tree at 366 is the only example of its kind in San Francisco (notice the unusually shaped flowers on this tree). There's a beautiful Norfolk Island Pine tree just behind the gay/lesbian flag, near the corner of Market and Castro (I plan to use a photo of that tree in the next edition of my book, should there be a next edition...) The magnolias on the border of Dolores Park (bordering 18th and 20th streets) are also worth a visit. The residents of this neighborhood clearly love trees, and take care of them.
