Downtown/Financial District Tree Locations
Surprisingly, the financial district has some of the City's most impressive trees. The City's best tulip trees surround the old federal reserve building (the best ones are on Sansome Street, near Sacramento). There is a beautiful Italian bay tree (also San Francisco's best), in front of the U.S. Customs House on Battery, just north of Jackson., and the City's nicest carrotwood tree sits in a planter on Sacramento, just off Davis Street. In fact, there are so many beautiful and unusual trees downtown that I created a tree walking tour for the area in my book, The Trees of San Francisco.
(Note: if you do not find the tree you are looking for, click here to check a listing of less-common trees citywide). For photos of most of these trees, visit Friends of the Urban Forest's tree photos page (trees listed alphabetically by latin name).
