Mystery Trees

This is a constantly growing and shrinking list of trees that I haven't been able to identify.  If you will recognize a tree at an address below, send an email to sulliva1@ix.netcom.com and let me know.  Many thanks to Scot Medbury, Arthur Lee Jacobson, Dick Turner, Linda Liebelt, Robert Barufaldi and Dennis Westler for their help in identifying many trees that used to be on this list!

• corner of York and Holladay (what type of Robinia?  Has as many as 21 leaflets, some leaflets up to 2-1/2 in. long)

• 175 Montcalm/Macedonia (type of Robinia with much smaller leaflets)
• 223 Montcalm/Peralta (shrubby multitrunked tree)

• 100 Lundy's Lane (Honey Locust?)

• 6 Elsie/Coso (Asian Magnolia - what species?)

Cole Valley

• 110-114 Beulah (type of Eucalyptus with fibrous bark and flowers in groups of three)

• 22 Crown Terrace

• in front of the old Mint on 5th Street between Mission and Market, just to the right of the front doors, large tree set in landscaping.  Persea sp?

• corner of Filbert and Sansome (in fact, just adjacent to the street sign for that corner) - what type of Pine?

• SE corner of Mission and 5th (deciduous trees with dark bark fronting the Mission Garage)   Tilia sp?

Forest Hill

• Magellan Street between Montalvo and 12th (allee of Elms - Siberian elms?)

• 314 Pacheco/Lopez (type of Elm?)

• 33 Marcela/Sola (type of Elm?)

Haight-Ashbury (Lower)

• in Golden Gate Park panhandle, across the street from 1898 Fell/Cole (blooming late May/early June - Celtis australis?)

• Florida between 17th and Mariposa - type of palm?

• 60-62 Ramona/14th - Dracaena?

Nob Hill

• just downhill from 1375 Sacramento, walk down the side street/sidewalk, very large tree to the right as you descend the sidewalk.

Pacific Heights

• Baker Street, just north of Bush (what type of Pine?)

• 85 Jordan - unusual pine tree

• corner of Pacific and Gough - type of Washingtonia?

Potrero Hill

• SE corner of 19th/Missouri (Melaleuca stypheloides?)

• 373 Arkansas/19th (type of Ash?)

Richmond

• across from 195 14th/California, Eucalyptus with pale bark, in park

• Across from 243 25th/California - Eucalyptus; red juvenile foliage; unusual opposite leaf pattern.

• Across from 455 7th/Anza (type of Oak?)

• in Muriel Leff 7th Ave Mini Park, across from 443 7th/Geary (large, leaning tree, very much resembles Agonis flexuosa, but fruits aren't those of that species)

• 588 12th/Balboa (type of Ash; leaves appear to always have 11 leaflets, serrated, to 4 inches long.  Fraxinus oxycarpa?

St. Francis Wood

• Both sides of Santa Clara between Terrace and San Anselmo - Eucalyptus Globulus?

• 5 Lunado/Holloway (type of plum?)

• 25 St. Francis Wood/San Anselmo - to left of the house

• 1233 10th/Lincoln (type of Eucalyptus?)

Telegraph Hill

• 566 Filbert/Grant (what type of Ash?)
